SEDCOR Announces New President
October 4, 2012, Salem, OR – SEDCOR, the economic development group for Marion and Polk Counties announced today that Chad Freeman has been selected as their new President. Freeman replaces Ray Burstedt who recently retired.
Byron Hendricks, Executive Board Chair, said SEDCOR is pleased to bring Freeman’s experience and proven track record of success in economic development in both rural and urban regions around the State of Oregon here to the Mid-Willamette Valley. Freeman will lead the strategic direction for SEDCOR working with community and business leaders throughout our region to help strengthen local industry and recruitment of new companies to the region.
Freeman has accompanied Governor Kulongoski on trade missions to Europe, China, Japan and Korea and understands what makes Oregon competitive. His knowledge will help leverage regional resources to ensure effectiveness, and identify and create strategic initiatives and programs that achieve a positive business environment.
Freeman worked previously as an Executive Officer with Oregon Business Development Department, an organization focused on the creation, retention, expansion and attraction of business in Oregon. In addition to working with companies within Clackamas and Washington Counties, Chad has been leading the support of the Bioscience and Manufacturing for the Wind Industry in Oregon.
With broad experience working with real estate, economic development and running workforce organizations, Freeman brings a strong understanding of industry and public private projects. Chad earned an undergraduate degree in Finance, as well as a Masters in Business Administration from Colorado State University.

SEDCOR is a private, 501(c) 6 non-profit membership-based organization with financial support from the City of Salem, Marion and Polk Counties. SEDCOR’s primary function is to create traded sector jobs and promote available industrial land in the two county region. In doing so, the organization funds programs and services predominantly related to business retention, expansion, recruitment and marketing.
