Oregon Legislature Passes Statewide Sick Leave Bill

Just two days after the Senate passed a paid sick leave bill, the Oregon House on Friday approved Senate Bill 454, a controversial bill requiring Oregon companies with ten or more workers to give employees five paid sick days a year. The House's action followed a fierce debate that split along party lines. If signed by the governor, the bill would make Oregon the fourth state with a statewide sick leave policy, joining Massachusetts, Connecticut, and California. Governor Kate Brown is expected to sign the bill.
