Oregon Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian announced on Wednesday that the state's minimum wage will remain unchanged in 2016.

The minimum wage in Oregon is $9.25--the second highest in the nation after Washington state, and $2 higher than the federal minimum wage.

Oregon is one of ten states that link the minimum wage to rates of inflation. The wage is adjusted each year based on the consumer price index (CPI), a key economic indicator.

Officials in Washington state are anticipated to announce any changes to the minimum wage at the end of the month. That wage is also tied to inflation and is the highest in the nation at $9.47 per hour.
