Wine and cheese makers lead push for formal Oregon food business plan

The Portland Business Journal reported that Tillamook Dairy Co-op and A to Z Wineworks are working with Business Oregon to create a 10-year food roadmap for growing the state's food and beverage industries. The plan supports an effort by the state to bring jobs to rural communities by encouraging the location of food processing facilities near communities where food is grown.

 

To kickstart the effort, the companies raised $50,000 from private sources and combined that with $100,000 in state funding, according to the paper.

 

With such a plan in place, business leaders can more effectively seek funding or legislation that could yield positive growth in the food and beverage industry, according to the paper.
