The Pacific Northwest: A Methanol Production Hub?

Northwest Innovation Works, a Chinese-backed consortium, has proposed two methanol production plants in Washington and one natural gas-to-methanol conversion plant in Oregon. The proposed hub is projected to bring hundreds of jobs, billions in economic stimulus, and a boost of cleaner energy to the region. However, supporters, including Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, face opponents’ environmental concerns.
