Oregon unemployment ticks up in July

Oregon added about 3,800 jobs in July as the unemployment rate ticked up to 5.2 percent. The rate increased from a low of 4.5 percent in March, April and May.

 

Job gains were largest in health care and social assistance (up 2,100 jobs); professional and business services (up 1,600); leisure and hospitality (up 1,200); transportation, warehousing and utilities (up 1,100); and other services (up 1,000). Manufacturing and construction saw the largest declines, down 1,200 and 1,100 jobs, respectively.
