USDA Rural Development - Oregon
Accepting proposals for Grant Programs

Grant programs that support economic development activities in rural Oregon are available. USDA Rural Development-Oregon is now accepting concept papers under several programs. These grants are made to non-profits, public bodies, and tribes to support rural business development. Deadline March 5, 2010.

Ag Seminar Update

Twenty seven attendees enjoyed the recent seminar, "Sowing the Seeds of Financial Strength" put on by Northwest Farm Credit Services, Saalfeld Griggs PC, and Moss Adams LLP. Herb Sanders from Northwest Farm Credit covered lending in the current economic environment and how that impacts growers, producers, and manufacturers. Randall Sutton from Saalfeld Griggs addressed changes in employment law and provided practical tips to keeping your business out of trouble in 2010. Natalya Griffith and Michelle Gall from Moss Adams addressed recent federal and state tax law revisions and delved into ways to avoid fraud.

Moss Adams LLP will be hosting an event on May 20th for Manufacturers, Producers and Distributors (see below)

A collaborative group of Salem area organizations (SEDCOR, Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and Chemeketa Community College) have come together to encourage Salem area businesses and institutions to learn, apply, and take action on projects for energy efficiency and solar. In response to this interest, PGE has added several seminars in Salem.
