| Epic Aviation Expands
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - August 23, 2002 EPIC Aviation announced today that they have submitted an offer to the City of Salem, Oregon, to acquire a 10.13 acre site at the City’s Fairview Industrial Park for a new headquarters office building and truck reconditioning facility. The offer will be considered by the City at their August 26, 2002 meeting. EPIC Aviation, LLC is jointly owned by BP plc, through its Air BP division, and Valley/Gull, LLC, a locally owned company. Valley/Gull, LLC is formerly known as Valley Oil Company, a company that has been in business in the Salem area for over 55 years. Several years ago Valley Oil disposed of their home heating oil segment and focused on growing their aviation fuel distribution business. Over the years they have expanded their business throughout the United States. In February 2002, Valley Oil and Air BP merged their general aviation fuel business into EPIC Aviation, LLC. EPIC proposes to develop the Fairview property in three phases. The first phase would commence next spring with a 30,000 square foot headquarters office building and an 8,000 square foot truck reconditioning facility. The subsequent phases would consist of additional office space. EPIC presently employs 90 people and expects to grow to 110 employees by Spring 2003. Michael Delk, President of EPIC said, “We feel that this new facility will provide us the space to grow our nationwide network of Air BP airport operators. We’re excited to be able to maintain our National Headquarters in Salem.” Larry Glassock, President of SEDCOR, stated, “The rebirth of Valley Oil as Epic Aviation and the association with Air BP is a prime example of corporate survival in challenging markets and local entrepreneurship. Epic Aviation’s decision to locate their corporate headquarters in Salem is a credit to SEDCOR’s ongoing efforts to help existing business to expand and to bring desirable businesses to the community.” |
