SEDCOR HIRES NEW RETENTION/EXPANSION MANAGER

Salem, OR – Ray Burstedt, President, SEDCOR (Strategic Economic Development Corporation) the lead economic development organization for Marion and Polk Counties, announced today that Nick Harville has been selected to replace Ray Clore, as the new Business Retention/Expansion Manager. Clore is retiring at the end of September, after 10 years with SEDCOR. SEDCOR’s Retention/Expansion Manager is in direct contact with industrial leaders to inform them about SEDCOR programs and to identify their needs and interests in order to provide available resources.

Ray Clore, has been instrumental in developing many partnerships and workforce development groups, such as the Mid-Willamette Staffing Association, Mid-Willamette Valley Food Processors Consortium, Mid-Willamette Metals Consortium, and the Mid-Willamette High Performance Enterprise Consortium to promote continuous improvement. He has worked extensively with manufacturing companies to get them involved in Lean Manufacturing, and helped implement seminars covering export strategies and techniques. At SEDCOR’s Annual Honor’s Lunch in June, Clore was presented a “Lifetime Achievement Award” from our resource partners for his contributions to the business community.

Clore has been directly involved with the Enterprise for Employment and Education from their inception in 1998. He served as chair of the Operations and Oversight Committee for two years. He has served as a member of the Northwest District Export Council, since being appointed by the Secretary of Commerce in 2002. In 2001, Clore received the Governor’s International Business Achievement Award, for Service to Oregon’s International Business Community.

Nick Harville, comes to SEDCOR from the Woodburn Area Chamber of Commerce, where he has been the Executive Director since 2004. Prior to that, Harville worked directly with a wide variety of industries and companies providing management consulting, technical assistance in workforce development, helped develop business and financial plans for expansions and startup companies, and worked with state economic development groups on workshops for network/alliance development. Harville is currently on the Board of Directors of the Agri-Business Council of Oregon and the Silverton Hospital Advisory Council.

Harville stated, “I am looking forward to joining SEDCOR and taking on some new challenges. My relationship with SEDCOR goes back over 10 years and it has always been positive and productive. I am looking forward to working with one of the most respected economic development entities in Oregon.
