Labor Market Information
Area businesses seeking average-wage information for their industries and other regional economic information can receive free help from the Oregon Employment Department. Pamela Ferrara is the Workforce Analyst with the Oregon Employment Department for Marion, Polk, and Yamhill Counties. She assists private businesses by providing information on wages, recruitment and retention, skill set analysis, employment/unemployment statistics, regional economic information, demographic statistics, and other labor market related data.
Ferrara, is based out of the Salem field office of the Employment Department, and will meet with businesses in the three-county area. Oregon Manufacturing Extension Partnership (OMEP)
OMEP works closely with regional and state economic development groups including the Oregon Economic & Community Development Department, Strategic Economic Development Corporation (SEDCOR) and others. Information is also shared with Small Business Development Centers and community colleges across Oregon, where many small manufacturers go to obtain advice or training. The Mid-Willamette Valley Council of Governments provides assistance to area small businesses with all of the commonly used government finance programs. These federal, state and local resources are designed to be used in partnership with private lenders such as banks to provide the financing needed by companies to expand or start new venture and create more jobs for the area.
The MWVCOG operates a regional revolving loan fund and it has entered into special packaging or partnership arrangements with the US Small Business Administration, the US Department of Agriculture, Cascades West Financial Services, Inc., The US Economic Development Administration, the State of Oregon, and a number of local governments that enable our loan officers to draw upon a wide variety of financial resources and programs to help small businesses.
