Marion County Environmental Services Waste Reduction Grant Program

The Marion County Environmental Services Waste Reduction Grant Program is now seeking applications. For the Fall 2011 offering, a possible $100,000 in grants is available. This program uses funds set aside from out-of-county medical waste disposal fees.

The objectives of the program are to:

  • Reduce the amount of waste generated in Marion County.
  • Reduce the amount of waste disposed of at Marion County disposal facilities.
  • Encourage the development of products made from recovered materials from Marion County, markets for those materials, and the use of products containing recycled materials.

Two general categories of proposals will be considered:

  • Waste Reduction projects that directly reduce the amount of waste going to Marion County disposal facilities, and
  • Promotion and Education programs.

The application deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011.

Update on status of the Business Energy Tax Credit (BETC) program sponsored by the Oregon Department of Energy and a new, Fall Bonus Incentive provided by Energy Trust of Oregon.

Fall Bonus Incentives that supports both lighting and mechanical energy efficiency measures for Existing Buildings, Existing Multifamily and Production Efficiency programs. The purpose of this campaign is to support the industry and customers to move forward now with energy efficiency projects that will be sold and installed by the end of the year.

EDA Grant for Oregon Manufacturers

I wanted to remind you about the Trade Adjustment Assistance for Firms program. We are a U.S. Economic Development Administration program designed to assist U.S. manufacturers that are impacted by imports. We offer up to $75,000 in matching federal grants for Oregon manufacturers that qualify for our program.

In order to qualify, a company must demonstrate that their business has been negatively impacted by foreign competition. Eligible companies can use the funds for projects including: marketing, lean manufacturing, quality control certification, product or facility design, export assistance and many others. However, our funding cannot be used by an eligible company to purchase assets, such as equipment.

We will also write the grant application for the company at no cost to them.
