AKS WELCOMES NEW EMPLOYEES
TUALATIN, OR—AKS Engineering & Forestry, LLC (AKS) welcomes seven new employees to the company: Paul Beskow, Amy Downhour, Michael Downhour, Bill Hines, Lyle Misbach, Michael Summers, and Julie Wirth-McGee.
Paul Beskow, PE, has joined AKS’ team in Tualatin and supports a variety of engineering projects by providing scoping, design, bidding, cost estimating, and construction support. Paul has over five years of experience with public and private projects, mainly in rural communities, throughout the Pacific Northwest. He has a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in Oregon.
Amy Downhour, PE, joined AKS’ land development team in Tualatin and is managing projects in Carlton, Corvallis, and Gresham. She comes to AKS with seven years’ combined experience in land development management, design of multiple master planned communities, and as district engineer for utility districts in the Houston area. Amy received her civil engineering degree from Texas A&M University and is a licensed professional engineer in Oregon and Texas.
Michael Downhour is a registered professional land surveyor who is also a drone specialist and FAA certified sUAS pilot. Michael joined AKS’ Tualatin team and brings 12 years of industry experience to AKS. Prior to becoming part of the AKS team, he worked for an engineering company in Houston where he was a project surveyor. Michael has degrees in both construction management and surveying and is a registered professional land surveyor in Texas.
Bill Hines brings 13 years of experience in geographic information systems (GIS) services to AKS, having served both public and private clients throughout the Pacific Northwest. He has an extensive background in photography, graphic design, IT/IS support, and GIS/AutCAD data integration and geospatial analysis to further serve the data needs of AKS clients. Bill holds a bachelor’s degree in geography with an emphasis on GIS and remote sensing technologies.
Lyle Misbach, PE, CFM, brings 26 years of engineering experience to AKS and provides engineering, floodplain management, and project management services out of the company’s Keizer office. Prior to joining AKS, Lyle spent 13 years as an engineer for City of Salem’s Public Works Department where he oversaw various public works programs and coordinated both private and public development projects from concept through completion. Lyle has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, is a certified floodplain manager, and a licensed professional engineer in Oregon.
Michael Summers, PE, has 15 years of civil design experience in all phases of transportation improvements, subdivision, and various large industrial and commercial projects. Prior to joining AKS, he was county engineer for Clatsop County Public Works where for four years he served as public works director. Having previously worked in the greater Vancouver Washington area on site developments, Michael joins AKS’ Vancouver office to augment the project engineering team and focus on southwest Washington commercial and residential site development. Michael has a degree in civil engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in Oregon.
Julie Wirth-McGee, PWS, is a certified professional wetland scientist with 15 years of experience working in the public and private sectors. She has provided specialized services for local, state, and federal permits in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Her expertise includes field assessments, environmental and natural resource permitting, NEPA coordination and documentation including biological assessments, and permit compliance assistance during construction. She works out of AKS’ Keizer office where she is helping to manage AKS’ natural resources.
