The Soil Health Workshop “Dissecting the Data to Conserve Soil Resources” will be held on November 6, 2019 12:30 pm until 5 pm at the Chemeketa Eola Campus in West Salem. The workshop is designed to help individuals learn to excel at the Web Soil Survey and make soil testing a tool that can work for them. This exciting event will pair great speakers, light refreshments and a beautiful venue.
Featured speakers are:
James Cassidy, OSU Senior Instructor Soil Science & Sustainable/Organic Agriculture, will discuss how to connect the information web soil survey provides with education on soil type…what does it all mean and why you should know.
Betsy Verhoeven, OSU Assistant Professor of Practice for Field Crops, will present on soil health and fertility based upon her soil science research and field studies.
Annie Young-Matthews, Former Plant Materials Center Manager, will share cover crop trials in relation to soil health and conservation.
Andy Gallagher, Soil Scientist & Owner of Red Hills Soils, will share his favorite soil apps and tools for finding the soil type on your land.
